Openreach Unveils Advanced FTTP Installs for Enhanced Connectivity

Openreach is set to launch its "Advanced Connection" service for Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP products, stepping out of the pilot phase on January 2, 2024. The new offering is designed to address situations where installations pose greater complexity, expanding options for both consumers and businesses.

A departure from the standard FTTP installation, the "Advanced" option, priced at £289.78, caters to properties requiring a more intricate setup. While the focus is expected to be on business and public sector users, homes facing particularly challenging installations may also benefit. The cost is likely to be passed on to consumers, with ISPs setting retail prices based on various considerations, including discounts.

Key features of the "Advanced" installation include handling internal wiring up to 100 meters, navigating complex cabling scenarios (such as multiple walls or new cable trunking), and working with removable ceiling or floor tiles. This option also allows for in-situ cabling and connections to existing in-building structured cabling.

As Openreach takes this step to meet evolving connectivity needs, the "Advanced" FTTP installs offer a tailored solution for properties with unique requirements. Scheduled for release on January 2, 2024, this initiative reinforces Openreach's commitment to providing innovative and adaptable broadband solutions.
